Learn some history and see what has happened when the PFS foundation gave some serious money to oxford jerks

It is not the whining and conspiracy that the cost of developing drug is around 1 bln $. And to do that you need a valid etiological model in the first place

I do agree that we need a RELIABLE research but it is very hard to get it in the psychiatry. The most researchers are just looking to make money from us like anybody else and offer a very little in exchange. Even when we find a truly dedicated scientist, he has to publicize his work. This has led to an absurd situation, that a very important symptom - persistent emotional blunting in not even mentioned in the literature because it's not possible to get it through the peer review

Not really sure what your point is. Of course a med can not be designed without valid etiological model. But your not going to get that etiological model until research is done... The fact is simple. For years people check the forum every day with the hope that someone has stumbled across something that can help us. It hasn't happen nor is it likely. People have jumped on every bandwagon for this supplement and that med; it has gotten us nowhere or else we wouldn't be back the next day praying for some more news.

Calling for the stop of whining and conspiracy has zero to do with money. As I said it is counterproductive to villainize the very people we need help from. Time and time again you see comments to the effect "if that damn doctor didn't give me" or "if they didn't make damn SSRIs my life wouldn't be destroyed" ect, ect. You come to me, calling me evil and then asking for help... Im going to turn my back on you too. We have to get past the blame game and turn to the science. No doctor or pharma company set out to hurt us; nor are they trying to cover it up. We are an extremely miniscule population of SSRI users. Think about it; there is something in us that the SSRI triggered that it doesn't in the masses. Maybe the answer is there?

Yes it costs a lot to develop a drug. You are actually low; its more like three times that cost currently. As I said there is potential payoff for the research. Libido is not fully understood scientifically. Who is to say that while figuring out what is wrong in our case, they will not unlock the libido mystery? What would a true working aphrodisiac be worth? Far fetched but possible. Or think about.. what we experience could be an extreme form of the normal sexual side effects associated with SSRIs. In delving into the cause of PSSD could very well lead to an antidepressant without sexual side effects. What would that be worth to the first company that brings it to market? Scientific breakthroughs are always built on others. No reason to assume it wont be the same in our case.

As to saying "most researchers are just looking to make money from us like anybody else"... ummm do you show up for work without promise of a paycheck? They have to eat and pay the mortgage too.

The biggest problem is the logistics of a research project when comes to PSSD. We are so rare it makes it nearly impossible. What hospital/lab/university has access to 50 PPSD suffers? That's actually a small sample size yet even its not feasible. Yes, research into PSSD is going to be a uphill battle. But what alternative do we have? I maintain the best course is a dedicated foundation. We need a screening tool, predetermined lab test for each participant, ect, ect. It wouldn't be as good as having all of us in the lab, but at least we could hand them data to work with. There is all kinds of avenues to pursue if its coordinated correctly. There is documented functioning MRIs of a normal woman having an orgasm. Could it help to have the same done on a PSSD suffer? There was a study done that consisted of continuous blood samples taken while a man orgasmed. I ask the same question.. would the exact same test done on a suffer give a clue? We wont know to its tried.

No offense to Healy, but I bet he has a dozen off-shore accounts with several grand each. :D
