Advice needed - TCA and other

My pharmacist has just got back to me and said I can neither get moclobemide or Wellbutrin in the UK. Wellbutrin isn't available and he was very non commit all about moclobemide, just saying it's old and has interactions

He has suggested lofepramine which is a TCA.

Is there any experience (good or bad) with this drug or other TCAs?

Should i Persist and ask for an maoi instead? My memory is so shit that I don't feel like I know anything about our problem and anti depressants despite hours and days of reading.

Though I'm not feeling mentally great at the moment, I don't need anti d for depression reasons, more for pssd relief, so any advice you have would be great especially about TCA

I was on imipramine back in 2007-2008. From what I can remember I could have enjoyable sex on it but it wasnt a cure for PSSD. I still had erectile dysfunctional, and was no where near my normal sex drive pre pssd.

I'm currently on day 11 of Moclobemide no benefits towards pssd yet. I'm feeling better each day depression wise. They say it takes at least 2-4 weeks before feeling the full benefits of it.

Thanks GIXXER. I feel I may not bother getting anything. I'm down but I don't desperately need drugs for depression, i more just wanted to try again for PSSD. Half tempted to try low dose SRRI now...I must be getting desperate!

Order what you need online. I saw a sexual dysfunction specialist last week and he wouldn't even prescribe me cialis despite knowing about pssd because it's not in the prescription guidelines. They have chemically castrated me at 17 and won't do anything to help me.

I guess we all have different experiences here, i easily got sildenafil from my family doc. It is also quite affordable.

I wouldnt expect much improvement from most TCA"s, as they are often also targetting serotonin, like SSRI's.
I'm surprised that wellbutrin isnt available, how about the generic (bupropion)? Didnt do much for me but might be worth trying.

Thanks for your thoughts. I know - seems mad but after googling as well it seems like neither bupropion or wellbutrin are available in the UK. I might look into getting some online.

Again, he wouldn't give me moclobemide but I may try and source some online.

Getting frustrated because there are things I want to trial but just struggling to get. My Dr annoyed me by telling me how safe SSRIs are and that I should try them. I can't believe someone medical could either be so ill informed or just purposely failing to acknowledge what we are all going through. I feel quite hopeless at the moment

There's lots of bad doctors. GPs are typically bottom of the class types who aren't capable enough to go into anything specialised and psychiatrists and extremely arrogant about their own abilities despite 90% of their work being modern day witchcraft. After this experience I am never going to a hospital for anything less than a broken bone.
