Oral Estrogen

Tomorrow I see the psychiatrist to review my hormone panel results. Regardless of the results I will ask for a prescription for oral estrogen. Would 2mg be an ideal dose? Also, does it especially matter what brand to ask for? I'm in the US and it seems the only brands of estradiol are Femtrace, Gynodiol, and Innofem. I know lost_soul saw results with Estrofem, but I don't think it's available here.

Good idea but please wait a moment. Psychiatrics don't know a shit about hormones. I am a medicine student in last year of medicine, I can prove that. So, I highly suggest you to speak with a good endocrinologist. Throw away every shit given by psychiatrics if you suffer from PSSD.

Said so, 2mg of estrogens are a very big dose for the body (x60 of anticonceptional pill!!). It' s like testosterone supplement with bodybuilders. High or long term Estrogen dose can dysrupts your hormal balance shutting down HTPA axis ( LH and FSH) and leading problems like infertility and others. So:

I highly suggest you maca root, it is pro libido, pro ferility and other good things. I can' t use it beacause it gave me bad feeling on nipples and it is not good for a guy.

Thanks for your input.

My results showed high pregnanediol (progesterone), low testosterone, low DHEA, and lowish-normal estradiol. (I'll post numbers later since I'm on my phone.) The psychiatrist has experience prescribing bioidentical hormones but was extremely reluctant to prescribe oral estrogen for the reasons you described. He did recommend bioidentical testosterone though. I will take my results to an endocrinologist and get advice from there.

I've tried maca root in the past and it never did anything. Is it effective in powder form?

Keenly following this as another female pssd-er. Have tried to figure out how estrogen supp would effect us vs the guys here but I don't understand enough to figure it out. I really just learnt that under no circumstances should we add DHT so I just pray that is not a crucial piece of the puzzle.

Fingers crossed for you bunny

Thanks! Yeah, my psych didn't want to involve DHT, either. I am seriously thinking of just starting on the testosterone cream/DHEA supplementation he's recommending rather than waiting weeks to see an endo (although I will still make an appointment). I'm just sick of this.

here's some of my values.

Pregnanediol 820 (ref. range 13 - 370 nmo/dL)
DHEA 4.9 (ref. range 11 - 76.3 nmol/dL)
Testosterone 4 (ref. range 10 - 48 nmol/dL)
Estradiol (E2) 2.3 (premenopause ref. range 0.6 - 11.2 mcg/g)

Other androgens (11-keto-androsterone, 11-ketoetiocholanolone, etc.) were low. On top of that, I am not an under/overmethylater, and my glucocorticoids were elevated. I can list everything if anyone thinks it would be relevant.

I think youd be a good candidate to trial the E2 based on your lab results. It will probably bring down your pregnanediol reading.

I really think the whole E2 thing is promising. I think it's really interesting now many people post lab results with imbalances on them. I haven't even had one test that was off so far. I almost wish I had hormones that were off so I had something to work with.

For now I'll trial testosterone/DHEA cream to help bring those levels up, plus NAC for cortisol. If that does nothing, I think I can talk the psych into trying something with E2. He knows I'm desperate. I also have my endo visit scheduled for two weeks from now.

Did you get FSH and LH tested by chance? Your low test + low estradiol almost look like not enough of these 2 are being secreted by GnRH. Quite possibly another effect from these drugs. SHBG would be another good marker to test.

I didn't get those tested. If I go for another test I'll be sure to check.
