Can PSSD be related with quitting protocol?

Unread postby hgwxx7 » Wed Jul 25, 2018 4:30 am

Have you quit cold turkey or taper down slowly? Do you think it can affect on pssd? Becasue some people took the drug with no pssd, but after second attempt they got pssd.
Maybe we should slowly, very slowly taper down the SSRIs. What do you think?

This assumes that sexual functioning is restored once going back on an SSRI and from what I've seen rarely happens.

Actually, when I start SSRI again, the first 3 weeks I would become nearly normal.
Sexual thoughts, erections and libido increase greatly. After that 3 weeks, all went back to baseline.

Have you tried micro dosing like Pete did? Maybe this is why microdosing works. You're like experiencing whatever the drugs do for the first few weeks before downregulation occurs.

Maybe try very slowly tapering off at the peak of your functioning returning.

During my sertraline treatment I took standard 50 mg dosage. To quit, I took half (25 mg) sertraline for 6 months. For the last phase, I took half sertraline every other day for 2 weeks.

Should I cut in quarter to 12.5 mg?

When I start sertraline I would be ok in the first 3 weeeks. What if I quit the drug at that time?

there are some of us that was on the SSRI just a few days. That kind of blows the theory out of the water.

I experience this exactly, i had mild PSSD - took sertraline (a different SSRI) and first 3 weeks i was pretty much back to normal then back to baseline. It was only once i came off sertraline almost cold turkey that shit really hit the fan for me and ive been slowly worsening since. Not sure if going back on at a low dose would be good for me.

Maybe that's why SJW had cured some people. SJW is known to be a weak SSRI. Therefore low dose SSRI may work.
