Venlafaxine

Unread postby fred1234 » Mon Apr 17, 2017 9:12 am

Hi. I got PSSD from Sertraline I took five years ago and tried heaps of stuff to get rid of it. Previous to the Sertraline I took Venlafaxine wich actually made me kind of horny during the treatment (Sertraline killed my desire from the very first day I took ist)
After the PSSD started I tried venlafaxine sonetimes but only in very littel amounts and little time because I was very scared. It always kind of lifted the PSSD symptoms though.
a couple of month ago I decided to give it another try, partly because I am still depressed partly because of the PSSD. Because I was fucking scared I took only a tiny dose (12,5mg). I took it daily for about 4 weeks. Depression were going away and libido came back. Not constantly, more like up and down (very high ups and very low lows!) but most of the time I felt like a sexual beeing. After about 4 weeks the antidepressive and Libido enhancing effect faded a bit, probably as I was still on a subtherapeutic dose. I was still very scared and was not sure if I should rise the dose or stop. I decided to stop because I feared worsened PSSD and didn't want to risk more harm. But that did not happen at all. actually it feels much better now (sexually) than before! (erections every night and morning, sexual dreams, beeing attracted by women, I am of it now for about 4 weeks and considering taking it again since it felt very good for my depression as well. Wasn't a bad experience, that's for sure! i will keep you updated

i got PSSD because of venlaflaxine.
Venlaflaxin is an SNRI which works on seratonin and neuroprepherine both

Maybe the good affects you got was from raising neuroprepherine?

I would suggest you to maybe take 5htp for raising serotonin and something to raise dopamine
5htp also works for depression
29M.Effaxor 75mg nov16-mar17.PSSD
numb skin,ed, low libido/semen, severe ball shrink, burning feet
occasinal windows 40per functional.

It's been over two month or so that I am taking venlafaxine and I am feeling fantastic. Sexlife and lovelife is improving everyday and reached an almost normal level and depression is almost gone. Taking aproximately 16,75 mg, so it's a very small daily amount.

And what about anhedonia? Do you feel real emotion or gloden SSRI-like feelings or pre-SSRI emotions? What do you think to do? You could taper it off slowly and see what happens

I think is what experienced continue. When He stays on SSRI He hasn't PSSD

Venlaflaxine only works on norepinephrine on high doses >150mg). On this dose it is basically an SSRI.
The benefits do match the results that Pete and some others have on this forum. Perhaps the estrogen effect that SSRI's can have at low dose?

Yes. 18.75 mg is right. I half the 37 mg capsule before I take them. I only took it because I used to take it when I was younger and it never had any bad effect on my libido (only problems ejaculating). I am experimenting with it since a while. I tapered it of after a couple of month in the same dosage this year and libido was still alright. I am taking it because of depression and PSSD. I never had anhedonia in feelings, well maybe feeling of love and attraction. Only non existent libido, lack of sexual attraction and no dreams (neither sexual nor asexual) and no nocturnal or morning erections and weak erections in general . It all seem to be alright right now, at least much improved and I am pretty flirty recently. I am pretty optimistic but still a bit scared if this experiment could be a mistake sometimes.

The reason why I tried it out was that I had a longtime experience with it when I was younger and had to problems coming off it though. So as you know everybody reacts differently and I don't want to make any suggestions for anyone else!
