Energy drinks seem to have a a robust anti-depressant effect (Even more so than 300mg Moclobemide). They also have been able to cause mild windows (Slight increase in desire) every time (Not pre-SSRI but good enough I’d really like to understand why). They just make me “feel good”.
The energy drinks consist of the following:
Caffeine (80mg-100mg)
B Vitamins:
- Riboflavin (1.3mg)
- Niacin (8mg)
- b6 (1.3mg)
- b12 (1.6 micrograms)
- pantothenic acid (69mg)
- inositol (50mg)
Taurine (550mg)
Glucorolactone (69mg)
Observations:
Coffee or Caffeine pills don’t seem to have the same effect
Ritalin does not have the same effect
Taking high dose B-Vitamins don’t seem to replicate the effect
Taurine somewhat does replicate the effect but not completely
Theory:
Neurosteroids have been potentially implicated in the PSSD, Taurine is a GABA-A agonist, somewhat mimicking the effect of Allopregnenalone (allosteric modulator of GABA). The caffeine with the B-vitamins have an effect on the Serotonin/Dopamine production. The combination of these help with the symptoms of PSSD. I think it is a combination of one of the B Vitamins and Taurine that help but I can't figure out which B Vitamin.
Does anyone else improve by drinking energy drinks or have thoughts on why they improve my PSSD symptoms?
