"Preloading" before taking low doses of SSRI

Hi,

In pete's recovery post he said he took 5mg of paxil for 10 days before microdosing with 2.5mg.

Is it possible that preloading with the SSRI played a role in his recovery? What effect do you think preloading could have on the body? I'm currently thinking about whether to do this or not.

It could be. I did a 5 day 2,5mg run, which made me a bit more numb for a couple days. Think Pete was so successful as he really was bouncing from good to bad. I never experienced that effect so much.
Didnt make things worse in the end for me so it was worth a shot

My view, try to do a few days on 2,5 and see if you already feel the effect. If not, try 5 carefully

I have a plan now that might work. I'm going to try and find the minimum needed dose of setraline to "kick" my body back to its original state without damaging it further. Then taper extremely slowly. I think it could work because whilst on sertraline I had ok libido but delayed ejaculation and, when I stopped cold turkey, my libido disappeared but I had no delayed ejaculation. My theory is that something in my body was disrupted when I quit cold turkey.

Going to start with 6.25mg tomorrow.

Be aware that paroxetine has a short half life. Think sertraline is a bit longer, or at least its metabolite. Means you might have to go lower than Pete did as you will be accumulating more potentially.

Pete's story was not about tapering down slowly, it was about on-off-on-off

That's true, paroxetine has 21h and sertraline has 26/66h with metabolite. Unfortunately I don't think I can make the dose any smaller than 6.25mg though.

Just be conservative in the beginning, this has the potential to make things worse. Although i went back on SSRI at one point and it went normal PSSD level afterwards so impact is simply unclear i guess.

How did you come off the SSRI?

Very slow, didnt make a difference. Or at least in my case.

I'm personally going to try because in theory it works best after only a few months after stopping SSRI.

Also if PSSD is neurological, for example if it depends on 5-HT1A receptors, then this seems like one of the only plausible treatments. Every other treatment seems to improve symptoms but not address the cause.

I took 6.25mg of sertraline the last 2 nights before sleep and it seems to be working. Arousal (erectile function) has noticeably improved but libido doesn't seem to have changed much, if at all. Will update in the low dose SSRI thread as this isn't entirely related to preloading.
