Ayahuasca

Unread postby gurkhin » Thu May 05, 2016 5:55 am

Hello!

Would like to thank Ghost for inviting me to this forum.

I received PSSD, after eating 4 months of Cipralex (Escatilopram), I had the classical symtoms, loss of libido (lust), loss of sensitivity in the penis, softer erections, harder to orgasm, and not very pleasurable orgasms. I have gone through the frustration you have felt, and the worrying associated with it. So I decided to do a lot of research.. And strangely enough I found evidence in a study done on chronic users of Ayahuasca in Brazil.

It was found that they had a significantly higher amount of 5HT-receptors in their blood platelets. This was too me an indication that Ayahuasca upregulates the 5HT-receptor family of receptors, which as we all know by now - SSRis downregulate.

So I decided to try Ayahuasca at the comfort of my home here in the western world, after doing a lot of research on it. ( Now if you decide to do it, I suggest you read on " set & setting". Not did I have the most healing experience of my life, giving a deep understanding of what anxiety & depression actually is, but it also has revitalized all the areas of my dysfunctioned PSSD.

I started having spontaneous erections, I had more lust, my orgasms felt much better and I started watching porn again as I had a new interest in it. This was after 1 TIME only!

Now I started talking to a guy on another forum, it was not related to PSSD but we had an interesting pharmacological discussion on how the MAOIs in the Ayahuasca brew upregulate 5HT-receptors. It was speculated by him that it is not the hallucinogenic compound DMT that does this, but in fact the Banisteriopsis Caapi and the Syrian Rue(MAOI-inhibitors). Two ingredients which inhibit the breakdown of DMT, giving rise to the Ayahuasca experience. This is convenient, because the MAOIs are not hallucinogenic on their own ( and do not cause legality issues in most countries).

So I decided to buy Syrian Rue extract and Banisteriopsis Extract. It does not taste particularly pleasant, but you can mix it with water, and you need a tiny amount, depending on your metabolism and weight. Between 0.2-0.6 grams if its a x10 extract.

Avoid eating food that contains tyramine during the days you eat take Syrian Rue, and absolutely do NOT MIX it while taking SSRIS or other anti-depressants or other drugs. Try it once and see how you react to it, because naturally the harmala alkaloids are potent anti-depressants on their own, and you will not only see improvement in your PSSD, but also in mood.

There is a small chance that you might feel initially more depressed, because it upregulates the 5HT-receptors and in some depressed people their depression & anxiety is actually caused by too many 5HT-receptors.. It's a bit like the initial period where you feel like crap when you start on SSRis..

Anyhow, I am back to 60-70 % of only doing harmala alkaloids 2 times(!)of baseline prior to taking SSRis with my libido, genital feeling, orgasms, erections etc.. It feels great that I have discovered Ayahuasca and I will do some more Syrian Rue in the future, alone and encapsulated in my own pill-machine :D But now I am content with how it is..

Yeah, that is the 5HT2-C receptor.

SSRis downregulate the 5HT1A, which is the one to be primarily involved in PSSD. Furthermore, that study is made on rats, which I do not think is applicable to human beings.

I'm interested in learning more.

Why were you on the SSRI?

How old are you?

How long did you go off Lexapro before you tried this?

How are you feeling now?

What was your baseline? For example: if you were at 30% before, getting 60-70% better would have you almost healed, but starting at 0% would get you to 60-70%.

Did you feel improvement both times?

Where did you find/buy the extract?

Thanks,

Ghost

Isn't it better to use Moclobemide, which is also a selective, reversible MAO-A Inhibitor? It also inhibits MAO-B by about 30%
Tyramine ingestion is also safe with Ayahuasca based plants & seeds, as they are not strong MAO Inhibitors like the older medications.

"CELEBRITY DEATH IGNITES DEBATE ON SHAMANIC DRINK

After the death of a Brazilian actress’s son, families and specialists argue whether or not the hallucinogenic Ayahuasca tea should be forbidden in Brazil"

In early March, police found the dead body of Rian Brito, whose grandfather, Chico Anysio, was one of the most famous comedians in Brazilian history. Cause of death: drowning. But Rian’s mother, model and actress Brita Brazil, blamed her son’s death on Ayahuasca tea, a traditional beverage with hallucinogenic properties that was originally consumed by indigenous peoples. She has since started a campaign to push for the prohibition of the substance outside of indigenous circles.

Ayahuasca tea is a combination of two plant species: Banisteriopsis caapi (the ayahuasca vine) and Psychotria viridis, or chacruna. Classified officially as a hallucinogen, Ayahuasca induces a peculiar altered state that, according to people who have drank it, assists in self-reflection and insight. It also causes visual imagery even when the eyes are closed. Users claim that Ayahuasca takes them to a mental level that facilitates self-development. In addition to the tea, users often fast as a way to induce the body into having more visions.

For centuries, the drink has been used by indigenous populations for its shamanic qualities. In the 1930s, it began to spread outside of indigenous communities through a religious cult known as Santo Daime. Throughout the decades, other similar cults have been created – and now there are an estimated 35,000 regular drinkers of Ayahuasca tea in Brazil throughout the country. And the number keeps getting bigger.

But for Rian Brito, the shamanic drink did not bring peace or self-development. According to his family members, the 25-year-old man rapidly changed into an anguished man. In following his “mission to find his true self,” he started displaying self-destructive behavior: he stopped eating. Brita Brazil claims that her son’s weight dropped to 40kg (88 pounds), almost half of the normal weight for someone of his build. Brita posted a statement on social media following the death of her son: “[I am] a mother trying to alert others, and youngsters, not to drink this, for God’s sake. Be careful with Ayahusca. Leave the indigenous herb to the indigenous people.”

In 2008, then-Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil wanted to assign a cultural heritage status to Ayahuasca. The process is still pending on approval from the Institute for National Heritage. Two years later, the Brazilian agency that regulates and researches drugs – our equivalent to the American FDA – introduced guidelines for the use of Ayahuasca in religious rituals, based on studies and data accumulated since the 1980s. The main recommendation: no alcohol or other substances should be combined with the tea.

“The Brazilian regulation on Ayahuasca represents an outstanding example where decisions were made listening to the voices of all stakeholders – government staff, physicians, legal experts, anthropologists, scientists and ritual Ayahuasca users. The rules are satisfactory and I know that there are very responsible groups that follow them,” says Luis Fernando Tófoli, a psychiatrist from the University of Campinas. He mentions that the transgressing groups are a minority – and specific measures should be taken instead of new and broad legislation. “Prohibition would do more harm than good. It goes against the principles of religious freedom,” says Tófoli.

In the last few years, Brazil has dealt with a few high-profile cases of death related to the use of Ayahuasca. The most discussed death involved a well-known cartoonist, also an enthusiast of the shamanic drink, who was shot dead in 2010 along with his son by a young man who frequented rituals involving the tea. The killer was later diagnosed as schizophrenic and has been institutionalized for some time. After being released, he was arrested again for allegedly killing and robbing someone. This latest arrest showed that the psychotic behavior demonstrated in the first killing was not a direct result of Ayahuasca consumption.

“There is no evidence that Ayahuasca consumers are more likely to develop psychotic outbursts than other social groups,” says Sandra Goulart, an anthropologist who has been been studying Ayahuasca for the past 25 years. Actually, experts suggest that Ayahuasca drinkers are less likely to have those outbursts.

Though Ayahuasca can certainly impact people negatively, prohibition hardly seems like the best solution.

This subject was very explored by mainstream media here. A very public debate has taken place.
As I have already said before in other posts, if you have some kind of mental illness, think twice about this.

Police in New Hampshire say over-consumption of alcohol appears to have factored into the drowning death of a Vermont man.

In May 1998, 15 year old Kip Kinkel murdered his parents and two classmates, as well as injuring 25 others, after engaging in a shooting spree that ended up in his school’s cafeteria. In the investigation it emerged that he had been taking popular antidepressant medication Prozac since the summer of the previous year.

NOW! With your logic. Anyone who has a mental illness, should avoid all drugs at all costs.. Because some unfortunate people die. Brilliant :D

1. Anxiety & Depression
2. 22
3. Great! Its a potent anti-depressant though, and it changes your mood drastically. I felt it was a bit scary actually having not anxiety, since a lot of my anxiety provides me creativity. That made me a bit depressed. Its got to do with the amount of 5HT1A-cells, these cells inhibit impulses, and I have always had traits of impulsivity, which is again mediated by the 5HT1A-cell. It will make you more structured, able to think, more calm and serene, and give you your dick back. I think if you are a calm person by nature try it, but if you really enjoy the associated creativity that comes with having anxiety, try a lower dosage :)

4. My baseline was like 5 %. Yeah, I was almost healed.
5. Yes. First time it went up perhaps to like 40 %. Second time to 70 %. These effects have stayed. I am also sensitive, so for some people it might take longer. My mother has not felt the effects after one use, but it comes with repeated use.
6. I encourage you to do your research on the subject further, but you can order pure harmaline on Ebay, and harmala alkaloids too

Really? Did you see any effort in my words to advocate agains this substance?
You clearly misunderstood me.
But yes, you are correct - at least partially. We sould avoid drugs. But not at all costs. Only those which are controversial - which is the case - and science hasn't studied its effects enough. We all know the dangers of alcohol. Do we know all the dangers of ayahuasca?
For example, anyone with radical mood swings SHOULD avoid alcohol. Or be very cautious about it.

I used an example to state a warning. I've been there. And sometimes we are so desperate to act that we don't make informed decisions.
But I don't care what anyone will do. In the end, the choice is individual.
