Single dose of fluoxetine and possible PSSD

Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster.
In March this year I took a single dose of fluoxetine (20mg).
I really disliked the effects of the drug and decided not take it again. I felt normal again after a few days and thought nothing of it.

Fast forward 2 or 3 weeks later and I wake up discovering I'm now asexual. I could no longer grasp the concept of anything sexual. It was mind boggling to be honest.

I went online trying to figure out if this could have been SSRI related and sure enough, it was.
Trying to fix the situation I read up on several forums and determined my best course of action would be bupropion.

Bupropion turned my less than zero sex drive to something nearing almost zero, but at least it was back.
I kept taking between 150mg and 300mg bupropion daily for the next several months and tried out every single treatment option that seemed viable. Some were successful, some weren't.

I became more and more depressed following the months taking bupropion so I decided to quit that too 2 weeks ago (5-12-2017). Here comes the ironic part of the story... 2 days after quitting bupropion my sex drive came back with a vengeance and has continued to increase till this day. Apparently the drug that gave me back a sliver of my sexuality also kept me from getting it back in full force.

I honestly have no idea why this happened (besides some theories) or if any of my self treatments caused me to recover but I do know that if you have been on bupropion for months like I have been, please take a few days off from it and see what happens.

I'm nowhere near where I was but at this point I could live with the remaining effects.
Still feel like I'm way less emotional from what I used to be and have become a very cold blooded person.
I care about things if I want too and put effort into it but in the end I just don't really care anymore.

Also I just can't get drunk anymore. what's up with that?

Welcome.Sadly PSSD can come on fast. Your case seems unique though. I guess all of our cases do. As for the weird symptoms, PSSD is bullshit and people have reported that with booze before.

Hi, sorry to welcome you.. what are your other symptoms? Reduced sensitivity, erection problems, anorgasmia?

I had some genital numbness after I first started taking bupropion but that went away after a few days. Besides that I had trouble maintaining an erection because I was not into it at all.
Since quitting bupropion I don't have any sexual side effects anymore and the the mental problems seem to be getting better too.

From what I could gather bupropion causes early desensitization of the 5-HT1A autoreceptor which in turn would increase serotonin release. So isn't this something we would want to avoid?

Some things I noticed (while still on bupropion):

Ashwaghanda made me feel a lot better. Not sure why but something I picked up on:
(quote) Ashwagandha seems to have some evidence to suggest that it can increase 5-HT2 receptor signalling while reducing 5-HT1A receptor signalling, thus repartitioning serotonin signalling

Taking mucuna pruriens (Dopaminergic) and shilajit (Dopaminergic, Possibly GABA) in combination with catuabe bark (Dopamine reuptake inhibitor) eased a great deal of my symptoms.

Drinking alcohol also seemed to ease my symptoms. So I'm thinking GABA plays a large role in it too?

All speculations on my part though.

An update:

I feel that I have some very positive news for everyone in this situation.

Some time ago I followed a treatment protocol I felt was best for me. It was a combination of berberine and horny goat weed.
The results were nothing short of amazing and I was almost back to normal during the treatment. The reason I stopped was because I noticed problems with too much estrogen/low dht.

Ater the treatment (stopping all drugs) I decided to increase my DHT by taking ifg-1, creatine, and cistanche. The result was, like the previous treatment, amazing. I felt like I was cured and kept this state for several weeks.

The reason I'm posting now is because following the DHT treatment I went on vacation for a month and stopped al treatments. The results? Pretty good to be honest.
I dropped from what I call 'cured' to a baseline I find to be pretty much manageable. I have a decent sex drive (not as it was before, but I can have sex when I want without problems) and the anhedonia is acceptable (comes and goes).

So to sum it up: Compared to before I went from a state I deemed fit for suicide to a state I could probably go the rest of my live with. It's not perfect but it's enough to have a decent life.
I would very much recommend taking berberine to everyone who has no problems with 5ar inhibition (note: I had PFS before and the type of 5ar inhibition by berbine was very noticable for me but I did not suffer lingering problems from it, even after taking and stopping it several times.)

I'm currently at a level where I feel the remaining problems that I have will either stay the same or improve.
My primary problem as of now is that I have muted emotions and trouble focusing. So most likely dopamine issues. I also still have a very low reaction to drugs. Alcohol works some days, some days not. Nicotine barely works.

I'm planning to take berberine again followed by the methods mentioned to increase DHT afterwards.

My question for those who are knowledgeable is: Given the story above, what would you recommend I would take to improve my situation? I know what works for me, but I'm curious anyway.

Thanks for your regimen, I think it could workd for anyone whit "light pssd". For emotions, the only interesting things that could work is ayahuasca, baclofen and MDMA (tolerance). People here report shrooms helps, but I haven't try them

One question, does your regimen make you feel 'hornby's or it just make your erections better?

Both the berberine and DHT treatment makes me want to have sex or masturbate like before I had PSSD. It's very hard to explain, and I don't have it always but it's like an urge. It's nowhere like I had before but I almost forgot what it was like.

Another positive update from me.

It's been almost 2 years for me now and I'm in a really good state. Whether it's been the things I've tried or time, I'm not sure.
Currently cycling tongkat ali, boron, and creatine.

Recently I've regained the ability to respond to alcohol. It's a big marker for me that things are improving for the best and I'm confident the rest will follow.
As of now the only remaining problems are lower libido and partial respondence to stimulants.

I'm still confident I'll continue to improve but I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to improve my reaction to stimulants. Not because I want to use stimulants but because I think that's the path I need to follow for full recovery. So any input would be very welcome.
